BYC Member Interview - redinator

Great interview, Stacy!
Good luck with your chicken math. I'm sure you will have colored layers soon!
I hope your father is enjoying watching the chickens frolic.
He gets a kick out of his city slicker daughter raising chickens, that for sure. He just can't figure out why I'm still buying store bought chicken and why we rarely have eggs breakfast:gig

Nice to meet you Ms. Stacy @redinator! :frow You’re wonderful for taking care of your father :) and thank you for sharing your interview.
It can be challenging, but the VA has been great and he has a aid come by a couple days a week to help him with personal care stuff and keep him company.

Very nice to know more about you @redinator, Stacy. :). I'm so glad you got into the poultry hobby. I say poultry because it's only a matter of time before your eye may wander to other species. Does your father like the chickens?

I had to laugh as there's been a few times I've gone out to my shed, and saw a dead bird only to have it jump up when I got close. They really are good at giving a person a scare when sunning themselves.

My dad grew up in the country and had to feed chickens on the way to school and pick up the eggs on the way home. He mostly comments on how pretty they are and that he didn't realize they came in so many colors, lol.

I'm still getting comfortable with the idea of culling excess cockerels, which is really hard since my hand raised males are so sweet. When my girls start going broody and the chicks are a bit more feral and I'm more hands off with the chicks it'll be easier.

Once I get to that point, I have friend that raises quail for the table and he keeps trying to convince me I should get some too, we'll see how it goes.
