He was big and beautiful, took care of his girls, and fathered 8 cute chicks. He learned fast not to mess with me, but my wife and kids weren't able to establish dominance, and there were minor injuries. That's all she wrote! Fortunately, our local feed store will rehome. I guess I'll need a new avatar now. Don

I had that problem with my rooster, Domino. He actually loved me a little too much...would do the courtship dance around and around me. But after he attacked my M-I-L 3 times (okay, I kind of snickered), we thought, what if he does that to the grandbaby? No way! Domino had to go!

Your reply made me smile--Romeo was our second rooster. Our first, an EE who was also beautiful and good with the flock, but had to go because of occasional attacks on people, was named Domino.

This roo sounds like what I need to keep my 5 yr old from playing in the coop...lol

You don't happen to be in East central Ohio do you Don?

I'm interested in getting into processing our own, but my family's pretty hesitant. We're pretty sure at least 2 of the 8 chicks are boys, so I might get my chance soon.
