I got the idea, I'm pretty sure, on Backyard Chickens, to hang a cabbage on a string. At first they were not interested at all. Then I went to the garden and got 3 cabbage moth larva and put them on the cabbage. They love mealworms and little earthworms, so they didn't hesitate to try the grubs. That must have helped them acquire at least a curiosity about the green ball, and they started to peck at it. Any big leaves that came off, stayed on the floor, they were not interested. However, at some point one of them learned to tear off shreds of cabbage that looked a bit like a worm. That is when the above titled game started. Whoever was able to get a shred of cabbage became "IT" and the other two chase "IT GIRL" around until finally one of them, the WINNER, eats the cabbage. I made a video of them playing the game, but it was not in a format I could post here. So, here is a picture of two of them hanging out trying to decide if they want the warmth of the brooder or the excitement of exploring.
