The guy on the left has the same coloring as the pullet but no crest and has *shudder* red skin --- silkie feathered and frizzled. There is another 'red-head' roo with dark skin, but I don't have his pic.
This guy has a red head and nice dark skin, but lots of red on his body too.
I like this guy alot. He's not a real flashy roo, but he has a lot of characteristics I want.
I'll put him with this pullet and hatch a few of their eggs. She was catching a mid-morning nap (check out those eyelashes).
This is a sweet blue girl.
This splash naked neck is from a blue Ameraucana roo crossed with a blue Naked Neck / Silkie cross girl. I probably hatched 50 eggs from the cross and have 5 dark-skinned naked neck pullets I can use for the next generation. I'd like to have some large fowl dark-skinned naked neck blue / green egg layers.
All 5 girls are nice sized. I'm just waiting for them to lay to see if they got the blue-egg gene
That's a few of the crosses. I'll try to get some more pics in the morning
Oh, that was one of rescue possums I bottle-raised. Isn't he a cutie? I never knew possums were such delightful creatures (if you don't like possums, keep it to yourself).
I love cross breeds they look awesome and keep the bloodlines healthy. To much line breeding is a bad thing IMO. Have you thought of Xbreeding some crested types with them? Like a buff laced polish, golden polish etc? I know alot of you are PURE BREED only people, I like them all. With cross breeds you can get unusual and unique birds, it only takes one bird to spark someones interest in them. We can always use more people in our hobby or obsession as it is in some of your cases (No I never obsess hahaha) Thanks Dipsy Doodle Doo keep the pics coming.
