Since I'm new at this I have a dumb question. How do I keep the cables/wires that run out to my digital thermometer from getting caught or tangled in the eggs and turner when they move?

I was just wondering how the cables were hanging down in the incubator, so a picture of what the wires look like inside of the 'bator. Could you try taping them out of the way (make sure it isn't a strong-smelling tape)?

What do the cables/wires on your thermometer look like, how are they entering the incubator so you can still close it, where is the thermometer inside. What kind of incubator do you have? What does it look like?

There are a lot of different thermometers and incubators. We need an idea of what yours looks like and how it is set up.

And I agree, the dumb question is the one not asked. That’s why I’m asking a lot of questions.

I have a Roll-X1 and I'm testing it out to get ready to incubate eggs next week. I have the thermometer wire under the top for now the gasket seals it. The top has a hole in the corner for a water bottle which I don't have (plan on adding water manually) so I'm going to run the wires through it and seal it with a piece of duct tape. I will add a picture asap.
Thanks Mark,

That is an interesting turner, using rollers. I’ve seen other little incubators that used rollers as turners but none quite like that. I can see why you have a question.

Since it is forced air it doesn’t matter where the sensor is located in there. It should be the same all over, not like a still or thermal air. That makes it a lot easier.

One thought if you have room on the rollers is to find a flat piece of slick plastic and put that flat on the rollers right at the wall it is rolling towards. It would have to be big enough to fit over at least two rollers so it will stay flat. Tape the sensor on that.

You could tape the sensor to the underside of the cover. I think I’d want it to hang down about a half inch or so to isolate it from the cover so the outside temperature doesn’t affect it.

Can you remove a couple of the rollers to leave a bare space without rollers so you can put the probe there?

Or you can contact the manufacturer and ask them. It’s probably not the first time they’ve heard the question.

I had the same idea about taping it to the top and let it hang down a little. I've got to do something my eggs will be here this week.
Thanks for your reply.
