Why would you buy from a hatchery and pay outrageous prices for birds you can get right here?Hatching season is just around the corner and I am sure there is someone on here in your area that would gladly sell you some birds.Hopefully they are close enough where you could go there and pick them up in person.
Let me know where you are and I can find someone local for you to buy chicks from.

Only 2 listed in Kentucy.Bill Brance inlouisville andTom Clayton in Calhoun.I'm sure there are more, but these are the only 2 listed in the APWs directory.

This is the wrong time of the year to being looking for any breed of hens. There is no such thing as an extra hen at this time.If they don't sell them before breeding season(Feb),they throw the extra hens in with their breeders.

I know it. It's just a bummer cause I've got lonely boys and they see my amherst girl across the way so aren't very happy about it. I guess I was hoping to at least find year+ olds that maybe aren't breeding yet but are old enough to keep them company. My younger boy was sold to me as a female so it has put me in the predicament I'm in now.

Goldens that were hatched in 2010 are fertile in 2011.They would 10 months to year old hen by the following breeding season, and would be fertile.Good luck in your search.
