cackle hatchey

This is just my experience this year. I have easter eggers from Cackle from two different orders last year. I bred them this year. I have a lot of cross beak chicks.

I have always had awesome birds from them but I did order some ameraucanas from them and out of 125 chicks I had two with cross beaks

I have never had this or any other problem with any of my other birds from there.

I have bantam Cochins, crested Polish, and German Spitzhaubens from Cackle Hatchery. I don't know if they are show quality because I haven't researched this, but they are pretty chicks.

I had lots of problems with my shipment from Cackle, though. I won't ever order from them again.

I really dont recomend Cackle because of personal experience and around 15 other people saying they messed up orders, lost chicks in the mail/ sent them to the wrong post office (in one case 100 miles away) and just didnt send good birds. Not to mention they are SUPER pricey. I had to pay 13 something for shipping and handling (37$ total) and when I also ordered from Ideal (only ordered 10 chicks but still cheaper) and you only have to pay 7.25 for 25 chicks or if you order more than 1/4 box (25) you only have to pay 2.25 for shipping and handling. I highly recomend Ideal and always have heard good things about them.

ok gonna check ideal , i have another quesion on mcmurrays website it says they only have male or nothing available how do they know what they have if they take ur order before hatch date?

Maybe they pre-sold the females already. That's the only thing I can think of. Call them and they may be able to put you on a waiting list for them if there's a certain type you want. I saw the males only thing on their site one time and the girl on the phone said to just ignore that and call them. It won't hurt to try!
