For about 2 weeks now I've noticed that one of my sexlinks has been having trouble laying eggs. She lays the largest eggs out of all my girls and lately she's just been dropping her eggs here and there. For the most part she lays a good egg and in the nest but twice now I've found her egg laying in the yard. Most of it it colored normal then it gets a bit ashy white in a ring around the egg that feels like cement rough and then there's a hole in it. Her eggs also have dark calcium spots on them.

What is going on?

are you giving them extra calcium with their food? I sometimes get an egg with a thin shell, but have calcium for them to pick at, so don't know what causes it either.

maybe someone will give an answer to us.

I do not give them extra calcium. I didn't know if I should until their eggs seemed thinner because they're completely free-range. Should I offer it to them in their coop? Will they eat too much or will they know to stop?
