Calibration of a Govee

What’s the best way to calibrate a Govee temperature gauge? I know the ice soak is at least listed as the best way but how does one submerged in an ice bath. So what is the best way to do that with a Govee without ruining the Govee because they don’t tend to like being wet.

I put mine into a vacuum seal bag. Sucked the air out and sealed it. No pesky zip lock to worry about.

How accurate were you able to calibrate it? It seemed like I ended up at least a degree off, I blamed it on the bag interface.

Crushed ice and water method I calibrated dead on at 32 F

It will have to cold soak to get accurate numbers. I let it soak for 30 minutes then changed ice and water. Stirred every few minutes until the temp line on the app flat lined. That was my base line. Both Govee units were within .1 F

If you are going to use it in an incubator, then calibrate it with the incubator running using your thermometer from the medicine cabinet. The small range of a medical thermometer means it will be very close to perfect for our purposes.
