was wondering if molting will cause a drake to be come sterile? i see him mate all the time. the eggs were fertile a few weeks ago when he started molting. he is about 80% done moltling. the eggs that in bator are 12 days worth of eggs from 2 females, and none are fertile. before any molting started i had 100% fertile eggs for over 2 months.

I don't think molting will affect sperm production. It might be chance? Female ducks can also reject sperm from the male. Keep on trying. At least you dont have to feel bad for eating fertilized eggs.

we arent eatting any call duck eggs at all i have incubated all the eggs this season from my calls so far. my two calls females started laying around feb 12 a few days apart they have been laying ever since only taking a few days off. the first 20 eggs in febuary were unfertile. after that i have had 76 fertile eggs in arow from late feb to april 10. and now 14 infertile eggs. could my male just be tired? i still see him mate and females are still laying. the only thing that has changed is the molting.
