Camera People, help me look for a camera!

I love me large camera for around the house and when I remember to bring it places, but it requires it's own bag (which is bigger then my purse!) and is a pain if you are trying to take pictures one handed.

So I'm looking for a smaller camera I can keep in my purse, that takes good pictures, and I would love a view finder (the little thing, not the huge screen which eats batteries). I also saw this: http://www.target.com/Fujifilm-Fine...-Optical/dp/B004JSP92I/ref=sc_qi_detailbutton in the target ad and I love the idea of waterproofing so I could take it anywhere and not worry as much about it getting wet (even though I don't think that camera, from its review, is going to cut it). This will not be a right away purchase so I have plenty of time to browse.

I got this camera for Christmas for the same reason you are wanting a camera. The big one is just too heavy to bring out for casual ocassions when I just want to take pictures. I actually really like this camera. The quality of the pictures are great, which I was worried about when comparing to my good camera's pictures. Also, it takes pictures in dark areas very well. I brought it camping and took lots of great photos around the campfire at night. The zoom is not much, but works fine for casual "fun" shots. I got mine for $129 and they seem to be a bit more expensive now, but watch for sales. Also, they do have the waterproofing kit available and it is not that much money. I always thought that would be fun too!

It seems like cameras that size are difficult to find WITH the viewfinder. I thought the same thing when I was looking for a new camera but I have actually found I don't really need it at all. If you are used to the bigger camera eye piece, it may take some getting used to, but really it's not as important as it seems (From personal experience!). I would really suggest going to a best buy or somewhere that sells cameras and just try out a whole bunch! I was originally looking at the Nikon coolpix because I heard great things about them, but the pictures they took when I tried them out in the store were horrific! You may totally change your mind when you are able to hold the camera in your hands.

Also, I've found Amazon to have the best prices on cameras, so I certainly suggest making your final purchase through them!

I think I will check-out some cameras in store to try out some cameras. I know one camera I want to stay away from, I can't remember it's name but it's my mom's camera and the thing is just horrible, bad pictures, takes forever to take pictures, and only works in some lights. And yeah I'm seeing that no one has a viewfinder on small cameras, It's not a deal breaker on a camera but I would love to have one.
