Hi,
This is my 2 month old roo (left in this image) from a mix from Murray McMurray. At first I figured he was a golden campine (single comb, white ears, slate gray legs), but another post mentioned that campine coloring can be in other breeds. Anybody know?

BTW, anybody know what the one on the right is? I thought OEG; am not sure what coloring - he has brown laced black tail.

Thanks

From the best of my knowledge McMurry only has Red Pyle, B.B Red, and Silver Duckwing Old English Game Bantams, and your bird isn't one of those colors. Plus, OEGB have red ears. I will be looking around and adding to this post with what I find.

What type of mix did you get? Many mixes I would think wouldn't include bantams.

Campine- White skin, blue shanks, white ears. You may be right on thinking of this breed. I am not quite sure what else they could be.

Body shape doesn't appear heavy, so I am ruling out their heavy breeds. I am also saying no to brown leghorn due to color of the feather. And they aren't crested or feather footed so I am going to have to head down to McMurry's Rare and Unusual.

And due to what is on the list I am going to have to say Campine as well. I just don't see what else they could be. I also took a look at their bantams and really didn't see anything there that I think they resemble.

Hopefully someone else will be able to give more of an experianced opinion. But, Campine looks like the best option.

Good luck, and very pretty birds.

Oh, and as for the Campine coloring it can be found in other breeds as well. But, just considering what McMurry is offering I really don't see it as an option for their other breeds.

The one on the right looks like a pullet, and has a gamefowl body type. Once again however, if you got her from McMurry she isn't a color type that they offer. As for what her feather color is called I don't know.

That rooster also looks small, but I suppose for two months it isn't that bad. The only other bird I can think of is the Mille Fleur, but I don't see a beard, feathered legs, or a very good representation of feather color.

Good luck,
Jamie/Rhode Runner

I do have to agree, but http://www.mcmurrayhatchery.com/category/bantams_clean_legged_varieties.html here is what McMurry offers in the clean leg bantam group. To get those she/he would have had to order elsewhere.

The only OEGB offered are- Silver Duckwing, B.B Red, and Red Pyle

http://www.mcmurrayhatchery.com/category/standard_breed_chicks.html Here are their standard chickens, and I am thinking every breed could be cut out of the Feather footed, crested, heavy, and white egg laying chickens.

Yet, the body does suggest bantam, and game. Hmmm.

The owner posted that they have single combs. But, I do see the resemblence to the Buttercups. I wonder if they are like Wyandottes, and can throw single comb babies?
