How do I rid my family and flock of "campylobactor? My one year old child had it and is now better, with meds. Now my dogs both have it and $200 later they will hopefully get better soon, with meds. How do I get rid of it? My flock is only four birds; a one year old Americauna, a six month old Buff/Australorp, a two month old silver laced wynadotte, and a two month old Buff. Any help?

I had a severe nuerological episode five years ago and am still not back to normal. It started with what I thought was the flu but the Nuero later said the problem was all tied to the Campylobactor virus.
I don't know how to get it out of your pens but you might have to cull the birds.

Can't really add much to that great CDC summary. Cleanliness is the key, hand washing, kitchen sanitation, keeping dogs and kids away from chicken poop. Chickens could be the source, but you never know unless the organism is isolated out of them. Your vet can test the flock for the bacteria and discuss whether you want to treat or not. As they treated the dogs, they should be able to help you with the flock- at least with advice. Your human Dr should have gone over what to do with the human family. If the dogs are on a fluoroquinolone (like baytril aka enrofloxacin), understand that this is a banned/forbidden drug in poultry by the FDA/FARAD, due to promoting drug resistance.
