Can’t seem to make it to hatch day!

By my count, my duck should hatch her babies on the 19 th of July. We started with 18 and are down to 8. She has been moving rotten eggs out of the nest. They appear to be liquid with no sign of developing ducklings. She nested right beside my house. I actually moved her nest into a cage when she started laying and she went right in and continued laying. It is hot here in Texas and the bottom of the cage is metal. She has left the eggs sitting on the metal and built her nest around it. The cage is never in the sunshine and I have a shade cloth on it. She hardly leaves the nest sometimes staying on it for 4 or 5 days. Could any of this be the cause of the rotten eggs?

If they aren't fertile...I would imagine they would rot in our heat fairly quickly.

No, I haven’t bothered her or them.

I have 2 young drakes. I know she was bred.
