Can a chick hatch early?

It’s been a very hot July here in NY, and my hens been sitting on one egg for a few weeks. I couldn’t help but notice it seemed like the chick hatched two whole days early, possibly one. She was a bit more weak and wobbly than a chick is usually days after hatching. I’m asking if it’s just my imagination or can chicks safely hatch early?

21 days is not written in stone, I've had them hatch on day 18...and on day 23.

Agree!! 21 days gives you an idea on when it will hatch
