Can a chicken raise quail chicks?

I have 2 broody bantams at the moment- a cochin and a silkie. The cochin is on day 5 with 11 silkie eggs. The broody silkie doesn’t have anything to hatch yet  She’s been broody for 3 days now. I was planning on purchasing her some fertile (chicken) hatching eggs at a local poultry auction tomorrow— but I have and LOVE my quail, and I’m wondering if she would be able to raise quail chicks?

Thank you,
HuffleClaw

I imagine she could. But I thought chicken and quail had to be kept separate to keep the quail from dying from chicken diseases. ???

Some people do use chickens to hatch quail eggs - it's not like it's impossible. But there is a risk of disease transmitting from the chicken to the quail, there is a risk of the chicken smashing the eggs, there is (apparently) a risk of the chicks getting stuck in the feathers of the chicken (not sure but I imagine this would be worse with a silkie), a risk of the chicken trampling the quail chicks - and a risk that the chicken won't stay still as long as the quail chicks need for the first few days. Chickens tend to be too active to keep the quail chicks properly warm.

Well then it looks like she’ll just be getting bantam chicken eggs to hatch then. Thank you!
