Thinking about maybe getting some mystic onyx hens this spring, and I've found through research that they have 5 toes total, and all of me and my family's chickens right now have 4 toes. I've heard that chickens with different toe counts can't breed, although I'm not sure if that is true. Can somebody tell me?

They can still breed, but the chick's will still be mixed breed. Some of the chick's could have the 4 toes, some might have the 5 toes, while other's might have 4 toes on one foot and 5 on the other foot.
Whoever told you that has been in the sun too long, they can breed fine.:]
