I wonder if it’s possible,. Maybe when they are young? But can an adult duck drown in a 2 gallon water bucket? Or a teenager duck?

A member here said her Runner duck climbed into a 5 gal bucket and drowned.
that's terribly sad . Im watching my 7 week old ducklings enjoy the outside and i gave them a 2 gallon bucket of water , they are close to adult duck size and they are doing great, but I just feel like I gotta keep watch.

I put a piece of wood over the middle of my buckets to keep them from getting in.

If they can't get out, absolutely.
I personally don't use deep water buckets for that reason, I use smaller 1 gal ones. Deep enough to dunk their whole head, but they can't get into them or get stuck. Aside from that they have a little kiddie pool. Only deep buckets when supervised

My ducks have access to a sandbox I use for a wading pool but they still like to get into this tub. Too wide for an adult to drown in but the sides are too high/deep for small ducklings unless they are helped in and out and supervised whill in there
