We have 4 hens, most of them in their 21st week, but one about 30 weeks old.

The older one has been laying since we got her, so we had about 5 eggs a week. They were around 55 to 90 grams, with about 2 double yolk eggs per week. (See light egg below.) All eggs were the same colour though when a few days old some had more dark spots than others.

On the 12th of July I was glad to see an egg in a different colour and size. (see dark egg) Since then we have had one just like it every single day. I initially presumed that this was a second hen starting to lay. But all of last week we never had one of the large pale eggs. So I wonder is this the same one hen or has one of them just stopped laying once the other one put eggs in the nest.

Other possible reasons: I started feeding Layers feed about 3 weeks ago as well as serving ACV twice a week. I started mixing DE in the straw in the nest.

I have 8 hens, half two years old, the rest one year old. I get varying sizes and colors of eggs over time. Sometimes I get eggs with specks, sometimes with wrinkles. Sometimes, I get pure white eggs. Normally, there is some degree of variation in the brown color of the eggs. They all go in the carton.

Hi Chris and thanks for the reply. What i am really try to figure out though is:

Has one of the chicken recently stopped laying and another one started the next day? or is it more likely that some change, the heat, the change of feed just made the eggs from the same hen look different and the others have just not started laying yet.
