I found my duck passed away this morning, she was not of laying age. The only wounds were to her back end, where the intestines (I think) were pulled out. She was the only duck killed out of my 9 other ducks. There was blood around the coop, like she was walking around after being attacked. I have a net over their run, so that can eliminate hawks/owls. I see no trenches or holes in the fencing. I am confused what killed her!

On another note, I have been battling RATS, burrowing into my run. I have not been able to trap them (or it). Could a rat kill my DUCK?

It's common for rats to kill ducklings

By the way, how old is your ducks? By fully grown and not of laying age I would guess 5 or 4 months? Rats will kill ducklings and they probably did kill your duck if they are around that age.
She was about 5-6 months old. I’ve dealt with mink many years ago, and they always went for the head/neck. I never knew a rat would kill chickens and ducks.

Though it's not everyday rats will attack chickens or ducks to get a meal out of them. I would recommend hiring chickens (if you have any) and find rat holes, pour water down there to flood the rats out so the chickens can get them, they get fed and you get rid of the rat problem.

If you don't have chickens I recommend just flooding the holes with water and trapping the rats that crawl out.

First if you have rats you are already paying for a decent ratroof feeder without having the benefits of one. Plus the vermin and disease brought in.

Evisceration, I've seen many a chicken die this way in large flocks. One gets a tiny cut on their butt, the others peck at it, just a matter of time before the chicken dies a horrible death. Use the old standard blue spray for disinfection and to color the wound, often, till the wound heals.

No entry or exit (trenches or holes). Chickens can be cannibals. This past winter my hens pecked my rooster's comb to get a speck of frost bitten dot and pecked the top of his skull off. If they see anything out of the ordinary they will peck at it even until death.
