I have 4 bantams and 15 standard hens. someone is laying a light brown egg that is the size of a bantam egg. Is it possible that it is coming from the white silkie? She is the only bantam I haven't seen laying. I can't imagine any of the standard hens is laying an egg that small. I know sometimes they can start small and get bigger but I've gotten 3 of these small light brown eggs now and they are all the same size.

I also have a polish but I was told she would lay a white egg.

Hi there,
Yes it's possible. I have one, (one out of 4) white Showgirl "silkie" that does lay a light brown...sort of dark tan really colored egg.

My Silkie hens also just began to lay and they lay very light brown eggs, and they are much smaller then even the smallest bantam egg.

I have one that lays a brown egg, sorta peachy, rosy tan colored. Pretty. Not sure who is laying it, but it sure stands out in the batch!
