Can adult chickens be moved in with a rooster?

I have four beautiful three year old buff Orpington’s, that no longer lay as well as for Wyandotte’s that started laying the last two months. I am ready to get new baby chicks for my little flock. My HOA stipulates how many I can have and I now have to find a home for the four non-laying girls. A local farmer takes in and rescues various animals and is willing to take my non-laying girls, but he has a rooster and I’m not sure that I can add my chickens to the mix. Any thoughts on this!

It shouldn't be a problem. Especially because they are going as a group. Integration will be easier for them.

Hello deecooper.
Welcome to BYC.

I would be more concerened about their reception from the other hens. If this farmer regularly takes in rescues then the rooster should be used to hens coming and going. This is of course it is a grown rooster at this farm.
