So I have several duck eggs currently hatching in the incubator, and one pipped this morning but slowly the shell has become darker around the pip, like a shadow. The "bruised" area is about 1 inch in diameter. I'm guessing that the duckling pipped through a blood vessel and that's whats causing the dark area, but I was wondering if anybody else had ever seen this, and if so, did the duckling make it? I tried to take a picture, but they aren't coming out because of the angle, and I don't want to open the incubator during the hatch to get a better pic.
