Can anyone advise if this is poisonous for humans to eat? A Google search suggested it's a paperflower Bougainvillea but cannot find out if it's harmful to humans. I have a loved one with health issues that eat the leaves. I'd appreciate your help. Sorry it's not directly about chickens.

I would not be eating bougainvillea…

Unfortunately he has mental health issues and wasn't able to know that and I wasn't there to help. It seems he's ok but I would tend to agree eating these doesn't seem like a good idea. If one has eaten them what might happen to them?
Probably your body would just flush it out like normal. They might get some diarrhea and nausea, but other than that, they should be fine!
How many leaves did they eat is the question

You could call your local county extension office and speak to a plant expert; I've done that before and they tend to be very helpful. you can email them the picture as well and they should respond.

About five it is believed to be. I wasn't there and his memory's quite damaged by his condition. It's at least good to know that he is likely to be ok. Thank you for your opinion and information.

Quick question… did you join a chicken site to find out information about a plant your friend ate???
That’s got to be the best reason ever for joining us.
🤫🫣😄
Yeah, it came up in a Google search on if the plant is an issue for chickens. I confess I got desperate and was willing to try just about anything to figure it out. I figured if I wasn't allowed to be here then at least it would have been something to try.

One thing you can use to lower or even impede the uptake after ingesting something possibly poisonous is medicinal charcoal.

Finger crossed he will be ok.:fl
Thank you 😊 That's good to know. He seems to be alright which I am IMMENSELY grateful for. I'm even greatful for the advise from you all. Love the fingers crossed emoji too. I look like that emoji most times we go through something like this. Sometimes hoping is all one can do. I figured learning more can help too however this is a new element of his condition so I didn't know I needed to know until we were in it. Thank you for your advice I appreciate it.
