I love reading all the post, and search for info on the net, but can anyone recommend a good comprehensive book on poultry breeding genetics? I guess I am one of those people that learn best with "hard copy" information. Seems more tangible. Thanks in advance for any sugestions

I have Genetics of the Fowl by Hutt. Pretty dry reading but can answer some questions when stuff pops up. They explain the genetics of why such and such is part of the breed. Or what genes are involved when things do or don't work.

I don't recommend it if you are specific breed focused. Example: I recently purchased the book by Sigrid Von Dort, Silkies. That book has done more to provide insight in the breeding of Silkies than anything I've read so far.
