Can anyone tell me what kind of Wyandotte this cockerel is, and is it show quality?

my wife and I would like to know what type of wyandotte this is. She would also like to know if it is show quality.

I don't raise chickens so can't help you there but

That is not a Wyandotte. I have no idea what it is, or his quality, but at least I can eliminate that breed for you. There is a Wyandotte thread several posts down right now that has many photos of the breed.

Oh and cowgirl, sign that was on the pen I got him out of said that they were Wayndotte Bantams. Why am I not surprised that Lumber 2 was wrong again,

He is only 4 months old, but what would make him a show quality rooster?
He appears to be too big, is too long in the back & his colouration is bad for the variety. What would make hin "show quality" is what makes any bird show quality: adherence to the standard deacription for the breed/variety.

The best way to find show quality birds is to talk to people at a show. Maybe they have hatching eggs or chicks for sale in the correct breed your looking for.

Feed stores get their birds from hatcheries and usually are wrong what type of breed, unless you get an owner who is into chickens and knows the breeds well.

Feathersite.com has great info on the chicks and adults of what they look like of several(over 100?) breeds.
