I have a new bunch of baby chicks, can they live in my unheated garage, with a heat lamp of course? I live in Washington state.

If you can keep the area they're in warm enough, sure. They need to be 95 degrees the first week, and 5 degrees cooler each following week. Also make sure rats, etc can't get into your garage.

Make sure you have a secure cover and watch how you set you lights.

I use the garage too. If it's drafty at all tape some cardboard to enclose the brooder. Heck, use it even if you don't think it's drafty.

I moved my chicks to our garage at 1 week old, and in December. We live in VA, but it was the coldest winter!! I just put 2 heatlamps in there and covered most of the brooder with a tarp. Good luck!
