I have a semi broody chicken that is on and off the nest and I tried to get her to bloom broody with some (4) ceramic eggs. It didn't work. I went out to the the broody box (non-broody box) to get the ceramic eggs and throw the box into the creek. Only 3 eggs? What happened to the 4th egg? Oh no, my wife picked it up and it's in the refrigerator. Nope, not in the fridge. OH NO, I gave a dozen eggs to my neighbor and she's trying to crack a ceramic egg! Nope, she didn't get it either. That was two days ago and today I found the egg in a hole or divot where the chickens take dirt baths out in the yard. What? Thats 30 feet away from the coop? How in Zeus's underwear did that egg get out there? Unless my chickens have grown thumbs, it's a mystery to me.

I have a Columbian Wyandotte that goes broody a couple of time each year. She has figured out that I will try to brake her of her broodiness and has started to tuck the fake egg in the nest under her wing when I lift her out of the nest to get food and water. She then takes the egg with her until she goes back to the nest and puts it back so that she can sit on it. They are not dumb birds you know.

Wow. I have never seen that. When I was a kid we had 1500 to 2500 Leghorns for eggs. We sold them to a couple of grocery stores that boxed the eggs and sold them. I have seen chickens stomp eggs, roll them with their beak, push them out of the nest and a myriad of other things but I have never seen a chicken carry an egg like a football. I need me one just like that. How much you want for that circus chicken? She sounds great.

She is priceless...maybe we should take her show on the road next football season. Get her a little helmet and teach her to carry the egg to the end zone and drop it then do a little dance. She could earn her keep.
