Can chickens get dry Feet/legs?

Silly question-if you put vaseline, or castor oil on chickens legs, even thinly...dosnt bedding-shavings, sand whatever- stick to their legs when they walk around?

Ive used spary on natural coconut oil before and it didnt seem get sticky even with a good layer. Or doing it at night while roosting can help applying it.
