Can chickens get fleas?

I haven't noticed any fleas on my birds but my hubby did have one on his arm when we were in the coop earlier. The chicks are all around 5 weeks and we put them out in the coop last Thursday.

Can chickens get fleas? Or only mites and lice? We did spray the coop down with Sevn a couple days before we put down the shavings and moved the chicks in.

I never had a problem with fleas but with lice yes. I'm sure they might go on chickens but feathers are to thick and I think they prefer hair like human, cats, dogs for are more easy escape from danger cause they relay on jumping as there only defense where as lice just run fast.

That would make sense about the feathers. I just wanted to check to make sure though.
