Can Chickens Really Eat Most Everything?

They even eat mice if they catch them... At least mine will. My BR caught one on her own one day. And it is chicken football when we find pinkys under the dust bath bin.

I treat mine like children, NO CANDY...NO CHOCOLATES, NO SALT...I DONT COOK WITH SALT BUT USE SPICES INSTEAD...lol....and lots of water a must....treats must be also in the same line....

Yes, chickens love to snack.

Mine love to steal dog food (which isn't particularly good for them). I feed them vegetable scraps, cooked beans and potatoes, popcorn, oatmeal, almost everything i eat. Chocolate is bad for them like it is with our other pets. They love fruits like tomatoes, pears, and strawberries. Strawberry tops and that kind of thing is a great treat. And a couple of cherry tomatoes thrown in the coop is a very exciting game of keepaway.

Yes they eat everything! Sometimes it has to be prepared, for example they will not eat raw potatoes but they love French Fries. They will eat just about any greens but it either has to be very small pieces or very large pieces so they can tear small pieces off. The in between sizes are a problem for them. My chickens favorite snack is cheese.

This is pretty much what I used to do and what I'm planning to do. You never have to worry about wasting food ever again!

Gotta love chickens, natures little garbage disposals.

Chickens will ingest almost anything , lets think of the end results................ If they are meat chickens you will eat what they eat ,good ,bad and ugly. If they are supplying eggs just about the same. Watch your garlic close to egg hatching dates and lack of protein and calcium,as this is something you will be ingesting as well as any potential customers you supply. Chickens keep us entertained at times, lets not take advantage of experimenting with them just to see what will happen,as we might bite off more than we can chew . Chickens need a steady healthy diet to give us back our expectations and they deserve nothing less........Garbage in.....garbage out.

OF ALL THE FOOD, you can give chickens which i hear is good, leftovers etc., what are good for them and not just fillers? Since mine have not been laying, I am checking on the food bthat I am giving them, The homemade feed, from distributor, that everone says is great, is not working, ITHAT IS WHY i CHANGED FROM THE LAYERS PELLETS AND CRUMBLES, ANY SUGGESTIONS
