Can Chicks Eat too much?

Can baby chicks eat too much?? They are Wyandottes if that matters (not broilers or anything).

No. I free feed all my chickens, babies and grown-ups alike. They won't overeat

No, it just seems that way. They stop when they are full. I free feed and have no problems with chicks or chickens.

I have 26 chicks this time instead of 6, so having quite a different experience this time around!

They ARE growing and like weeds...but I thought I read somewhere you don't want them to grow too fast either. They have lots of natural light and plenty of food all the time, but they do empty the feeders frequently. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't doing anything to make them grow faster than they should.

They can be quite the gobblers, can't they? That's one easy way to make them your best friend, FOOD! Mine learned fast to come running when I called "chi-chick". They knew that meant food, and plenty of it.

Exactly! I know you mean, mine come running when they hear my voice...they start running and flapping and causing quite a scene...geesh...maybe I'm not feeding them ENOUGH!!
