I have a first time momma that hatched out chicks this past week and I noticed that I had a chick with pasty butt and was straining to poop with no results on Friday. After two days of warm baths and trying yogurt and hard boiled egg and all the awesome tips that I have read on this forum the chick was progressively starting to become severely distressed so I decided that I need to try and remove the mass with a pipette. I removed a small piece of some sort of matter from its vent and applied preparation H to it's vent to help with the swelling but now when I flush out the chicks bottom (the vent is still too swollen to easily pass its stool) I have noticed that what is coming out has a smell that I haven't noticed before in small chicks. Could this mean that my poor little chick has a yeast infection or something else? It isn't eating very much at all, but it is drinking. I have been giving it yogurt everyday (it's been 3 days). Is this a normal smell after a constipation episode? I realize its been backed up so toxins have been building...

This is the before I removed the constipated mass... It is not as protruded now... Still swollen though.
