Hi all-
I am making a divider in my current chicken run to separate my new girls from my existing flock. The new girls are a week old today. I was originally planning on putting up 2" galvanized hexagonal poultry netting as a separator (note that this is inside the run to separate chicks and hens only; I have hardware cloth on the outside to protect from predators), but I'm thinking that the chicks will be able to squeeze through the two inch hexagons maybe for quite a while. Now I'm thinking 1" poultry wire on the bottom two feet. I probably won't move them to the main run until they are a little older. What is the smallest sized opening that you've seen a chick or pullet squeeze through? I wanted to have the inner divider as airy and open-feeling as possible, if you know what I mean.
Thanks!
Angeline
