Can chicks that are a few days old be left alone all day?

I am going to be getting my first 6 chickens in a day or two. I am keeping them in a cardboard box brooder for the time being. Is it all right to leave them in the brooder from eight in the morning until about eight at night for one day?

As long as the box is spacious enough, they have a heat source, food and water, it should be fine.

I agree with Asher - just be sure your heat source is in a safe position over the cardboard box.

I had to leave mine every day, all day because I work full time. They did just fine.

Do make sure they have maybe two different sources of water in case they mess one up. Also, heed the other posters advice about the heat lamp.

I made my cardboard box big enough so they can have the heat, or get away from the heat as needed while I was gone. Other than that, give them their basic necessities and you'll be good

Just remember they need to be able to have the heat or get away, you can cook them.
