I have 20 sexlinks that are one year old and my eggs are getting spots on the yokes. My hens are laying 18=20 eggs every day. Could the stress from the cold and egg production cause this. Thank you Dale

Small red spots on the yolk - blood spots - are caused by tiny bits of tissue breaking off or small blood vessels breaking in the reproductive tract during the passage of eggs. They are nontoxic and the eggs are completely safe to eat. They are not caused by cold weather.

How long will this last. Egg sales are dropping off because of these spots. Is this more common with brown eggs. thank you
