I would like to set up a larger area for composting, some wood boxes on the ground. My only hesitation has been placement.
I have a plastic bin set up with drilled holes currently so I could get then hang of the process. Now that my chicken are 5 months old the poop is too much for the bin so I end just throwing the droppings that i scrape from the dropping board every morning in the woods.
Ideally I want to set up the compost behind the coop. But the spot where coop and run sits slopes back and when it rains heavy this area gets very very wet. This area had been an old basketball court with black top that was probably done 20+ years ago (we've been the house for a year) its a flat area that sits lower then the rest of the yard, so its pretty much a catch all for water. We currently just have a large dog cage set up on whats left of the black top thats never used. Below are the only photos I could find of area since I'm at work.
Is it a terrible idea to set up the compost in this spot? Its just the most convenient spot to put the chicken poop every morning, and its out of the way. Im sure its a bad idea but maybe some one will tell me its not haha
Area i want to set up the compost is circled in red.

this is just another view while in the run, the spot is actually where the old hoop was, you can see the old pole.
