Can DE change egg color?

I noticed that my Maran and Buff Orpington both suddenly started laying lighter eggs at the same time. It's been over a week and their eggs are consistently lighter than they were before that. I've been trying to think of what major changes occurred. I did add a couple new hens to the flock. All is well, no issues there. The only thing I can think of is that I mixed in DE with this batch of feed. Could that be the cause? I've attached a picture of the eggs from the Maran.

Short answer is.... no, not likely.

Coating color can vary day to day and also can lighten as the season progresses.

How old are these birds, in weeks or months?

Oh, and.... Welcome to BYC! @SamLynm214
Where in this world are you located?
Climate, and time of year, is almost always a factor.
Please add your general geographical location to your profile.
It's easy to do, and then it's always there!

Will do! Thanks for the warm welcome. Seasonal change makes sense, as the nights are getting cooler. They're both 15 months old.

The days getting shorter, not temps, is what triggers slowing of production and molting.
You can get some funky eggs around that time.

I found a slightly poopy eggs and decided to treat all the girls for worms.
Poopy eggs are not necessarily because of worms, could be many reasons for poop on butts and eggs.....and DE in feed won't get rid of worms if they do have them.

Thanks, I am familiar with the charge as chickens age, but this wasn't over time. It was was sudden. I found a slightly poopy eggs and decided to treat all the girls for worms.
Slimey poops could be from something other than worms and DE won't do squat for worms anyway, if you find you have worms, get some goat de wormer and dose accordingly.
