Can dominant white chickens have patchy skin?

It's just selective breeding. Why won't you believe the experience of breeders?
Most "paint" chickens are actually Ermine. I believe that is the natural state.
Paint Silkies were just bred to have big patches.
I do believe breeders, I just don't believe in a unidentified gene within the Ermine Coloration.

I did find Partridge in Buff Orpingtons through one of my breeding projects along time ago cuz someone didn't believe me.
But we don't know the gene that causes this.

But there is a genetic difference, people have selected for the little modifying genes that cause the pattern to be more even or more blocky. I don't believe there is one unidentified gene that causes that... it's quantitative genetics and it's definitely not mottling.

If there is a single gene responsible for the difference I would assume that it is a melanizer since melanizers are known to increase the black spots from an Austrawhite level to an Ermine or Paint level. But really, I think a lot of it is selecting for the type of bird they want.
