Can ducks live with chickens

We have chickens and are getting duck and I was wondering if they can live together?

Short answer is maybe.
If you get a male duck he may cause problems trying to mate with the chickens. If not then it's probably just a matter of all of the birds getting along. Ducks also present their own challenges - such as making a big, wet mess of any open water you have around.
