I have 2 broody hens and would like to put some fertilized eggs under them. I have enough chickens (can one ever really say that?

) and thought maybe about putting duck or guinea eggs under them. Can they hatch them??

I have hatched call ducks under a hen, one of my hens is trying out turkey eggs, and my turkey is hatching goose eggs! Lots of species confusion around here!

about all you would have to be careful of is if there are any eggs already under the hen when you add eggs to her , this would stagger the hatching time and cause her to abandon the eggs, when the first ones hatch , that were set under her a week or more late
I had this this happen to me severeal years ago , I added eggs to a hen that had already started and just lost 4 eggs .

Learned today that a friend put chicken eggs under his broody turkey hen (he didn't want turkey chicks, so removed HER eggs), and she just hatched them. So I'd say it must work with lots of broody birds.

I hatch ducks under mine all the time
Ducks will hatch chicken eggs too
I do believe as long as they are broody they will hatch what they have
