Can hens lay fertile eggs sired by their dad?

Sorry, newbie. Any concerns or issues with this? Last year my barred rock rooster mated with a cochin hen (we got one chick) and a New Hampshire red hen ( we got one chick). Both chicks are barred, and laying eggs and he is mating with them. We have a broody cochin sitting on eggs again. What's the risk?

Little risk. People line breed all the time to perpetuate desired traits.

Not much, first generation. As time goes on, harmful recessive will accumulate and the flock'll go downhill, but this takes a lot of generations to happen.

It's far more dangerous in people, because we have pretty delicate brains.

It would take a decade of willy nilly, no regard inbreeding to show loss of vigor and fertility. The original Sire and Dam were unrelated and of different breed. No risk at all.
