i have a female pitbull and i want to bread her to her brother off a different liter he is a year and a half older than her they have the same mama n daddy....can i do this?

I agree, a big no-no! That is called in-breeding. While line breeding is okay (breeding son/daughter to mother/father), in-breeding is just asking for problems. Can't you find someone with an unrelated male for your girl?

Also, in some places it is illegal to breed pit bulls, so you need to check your local ordinances. In Miami/Dade County here in Florida, for instance, it is illegal to even own pit bulls.

forgive my ignorance here ..........

but ............

when i hear pitbull, i think dogs, and when u say illegal to own them, i think dogs again

is there a breed of chicken which is pitbull?

I am kinda curious...when did backyard chickens turn into backyard dog breeders...? If you do not have a dog that has won anything substantial and is AKC registered then it needs to be neutered/spayed and not be bred!

Sorry I didn't mean that the dog only can be AKC, I meant a dog with excellent lineage.

There isn't even a breed of dog that is a "pitbull". There are several dog breeds that are collectively referred to as pit bulls, but then, a person who is genuinely interested in producing physically and mentally sound, excellent examples of their breed would know that, and would have correctly identified which breed they are referring to. They also wouldn't be asking about doing a full-sibling cross on a chicken forum.

Okay, I will concur with the no bro n sis breeding with any animal.- Seriously think about why you want to do this etc.- I myself breed my bunbuns but they are small & I have no issues with keeping them all when I don't have serious people who share the same love in having rabbits as pets. With dogs it's a bit different - you will need to have a plan on what you will do with the pups, having the $$ in order to keep momma in top shape while pregnant & nursing, shots for the pups vet checks & proper food etc - it's a really big commitment - I know you did not go into detail but if you have the means to keep all pups & have further done the research then no more rain on your parade from me!--- Talk with some others who breed your type of pit

Here's a forum (I did not look through it) Check it out, might be able to find some great advice & any other answers to questions you may have

Good luck with your decision
