Can I feed my girls spent grains if they have already started to ferment??

Hello alll! My boyfriend's Father a brews beer and asked if i wanted the spent grains to feed to my girls. I believe they have already started to ferment thou( they were used two weeks ago and spell like beer)... Can I feed them to my girls anyways or will they get sick??
