No. A male and female are needed for fertilization. However, if your hens go broody you can get fertilized eggs from someone else and have your hens hatch them and raise the chicks.

Does your friend have the proper housing to take care of chickens?
Just one bird is not a great idea...they'd need at least 2 or 3.

I want to get the fertile eggs but where can I get them without my mom noticing because she hates them and doesn't want any more should I just tell her? Or should I surprise her because she thinks the baby ones are cute.

If you are a minor living in your mothers house, you should listen to her.
Adding a single bird to a flock can cause serious problems.
How would you incubate a fertile egg?
You and your friend should just enjoy the birds you have now.

X2. Don't hide it from your mother; she probably already knows your plan ;)

I'm a mom :D

Maybe a better suggestion is to get your mom and your friends mom and yourselves all together, and have a nice, ADULT conversation about responsibility and learning how to take care of chickens, brooding, interests in breeding... You might be surprised that your mom's might actually LET you do this if you can show maturity and responsibility... No whining, pleading, crying, temper tantrums etc...

Calm, mature, adults. This is a chance to PROVE that you are trustworthy and can take care if things on your own. :)

And... Don't make her clean up after your messes/chickens lol... She mist likely won't let you have more if SHE'S the one doing the work ;)

Do some more research on incubating and flock dynamics, how they will get along first... And Good luck! :)
