I have some amoxicillin trihydrate betamox palatable drops that were given from the vet to my cat who had an infection and has recovered. It is equivalent to 750mg of amoxycillin. I have a chicken who has a wound on her head from getting pecked that is pussy and infected. I've found some research that said it is okay to use as one way to treat an infection in chickens.

Is this safe and will work? I would be giving it orally like i did with my cat

Thanks

Apparently not particularly effective in avians: http://www.avianmedicine.net/ampa/18.pdf

You
might consider posting up a shot so member's can estimate just how extensive infection is. If wound is debrided, cleaned with a disinfectant and has a bit of antibiotic ointment applied, systemic antibiotics are often not necessary.

Thanks for reply.
I'm goign to try ointment before the peniclliin just to be careful
