right now i have a silkie roo and hen but will be getting 5 more chicks in june. I have to get ride of my roo because the neighbors dont like him so that means the hen will be living all alone until june, after she was used to living with the roo. This is a silly question but i was wondering if i got a tom turkey and added him in with the hen would he act like a rooster to the hens or would he not like the other chickens? I like having a rooster in the flock but but the closets i could get to that would with out crowing would be a tom.

Trust me, if your neighbors don't like a rooster crowing they will kill you for getting a tom that gobbles. Your chickens will be fine without a male of any sort.

Are Tom's loud? I didn't think they were as bad as roosters?...I think I have a pair of MW and I was really hoping to keep them both so I could hatch eggs...

My old Tom gobbled allot, yes, but its a lower pitch then the rooster. I don't think as loud.. in my opinion. He would gobble more when he would see me or when we were together then when he was off by himself.
