Can't seem to find the ordinance for the area. I will be living in a neighborhood with large lots, and there's a cow pasture very near my house. Just wanted to know if there was anyone here who could speak for that particular area?

Go to the town hall there and ask to see the code.

Understand that you will likely need to check several things in the code, in addition to finding out if chickens are legal you have to find out if they are allowed in the zone your lot will be in and if the lot will even allow you to meet all line setback requirements for your coop and pen.

It could turn out to be that chickens are legal on your lot but your chicken housing and run are not.

My mother in law lives in Prattville. She keeps about 20 chickens in different coops & runs in her backyard.

Hey, Sorry I just saw your post. I live in Millbrook and There are quite a few of us around. Call City hall.. Tell them your address and they will tell you. I have chicken, and around me there are goats, chickens, donkeys, pigs and more. Let me know how it goes and have fun

I live close by and have chickens in my backyard. My motto it is better to apologize later than ask permission now. If I get caught and it is not in the code then I will deal with it then. I have had about 1yr with no issues. I do not have a rooster.

Pratville Alabama has a website but their ordinances are not online, you have to request them from the City Clerk. Here is her email address or you can call her directly.

Hello,

I'm looking for a young, no more than a week baby chick to be a companion to my only 1 day old Pollito? Any one have anything for sale?
Thanks,
Glenda
