can i keep a drake with geese?

so... i already have one small flock of ducks (1 drake 2 hens) but my older boy has no other bird friends (right now he is staying at a friends house, with his hatchmate brothers. but he cannot stay with them forever because he tries to mate with them.)

anyways, i also want geese. so i was wondering if he NEEDS another duck or if i could get him a female goose as a friend and they would be good?

If I remember correctly geese and ducks don't speak the same 'language' so while they might not kill each other and might get along they wouldn't provide the same enrichment and social interaction as their own species

Ducks can't communicate with geese so you do need more ducks for him.

This was my experience as well. My pen all those years ago was 1/3rd of an acre. My geese hung out together and my ducks hung out together but not really mixing.
