Can I mix less than 1 week old chicks with 2 old chicks?

Yes.

I have done the exact same thing, when one of my original four "failed to thrive."

Then I did it again a week later, and then a week later, but not due to losses.... just adding to the population.

I wouldn't go much more than 3 weeks' difference in ages. Also, when I picked up new chicks, I looked for the ones with more feathers, rather than just choosing the cutest, fluffiest 2 day olds.

I mixed chicks in the same brooder that were as much as three weeks apart in age last year. There were no issues. I agree with the comment of not mixing them if they are more than three weeks difference in age.

I got a Golden laced Wyandotte pullet. My wife named her Pixie.lol YEah the other little guy didn't make it when I got back from the feed store. It really sucks. He was gonna be a Sumatra cockrail I was gonna give to the hobby farm down the street, So we can see it. I wouldn't want a Roo, Since I am totally Stealth with this chicken thing. I am not allowed to have chickens due to not being zoned for Agricultural. So I made a 3' tall shed with 30 square feet for 6 chickens. It looks like a short push mower shed with solid doors with a plexiglass roof. I figure the light during the winter would heat them up. And I have 4 extra square feet to put Black metal buckets to retain heat durring the night. It's also has wheels on it so I guess you can consider it a Tractor. I'm hoping the building inspector never finds out. I have a 5' chainlink fence that I am putting vynil slating to provide more camofluage.lol very Nosey jerk!lol
